Brooklyn, NY - “Gov. Kathy Hochul chose Brian Benjamin to be her Lt. Governor and 2022 running mate despite common knowledge that Mr. Benjamin was being investigated for corruption, which apparently meant nothing to Mrs. Hochul. When she selected Mr. Benjamin to run alongside her this year, Mrs. Hochul was perfectly well aware that under existing New York State Election Law Mr. Benjamin could not be removed from the ballot after the declination process expired. These are the rules for everyone — except for Mrs. Hochul evidently.

“Today’s legislative machinations to get Mr. Benjamin off the ballot are an affront to New Yorkers who expect their elected officials to follow the laws they create. By changing this law midstream, solely to benefit Mrs. Hochul, the Democrats in the State Legislature have made it clear that there is one set of rules for Democrat elected officials and another for everyone else. This action is a disgrace, even by Albany standards.”

Chairman Kassar’s weekly wrap up discusses the Court’s Redistricting Ruling, Governor Hochul’s Lt. Governor problem and shines the spotlight on our NYS Comptroller candidate, Paul Rodriguez.

Courts Rule Democrats Violated Constitution

New York State Democrats tried their best to play us all for fools, but they were caught with their hand in the cookie jar. Three different courts ruled they unconstitutionally gerrymandered new district lines in their favor with the intention of stealing power from the people of New York.

“The IRC and the legislature failed to follow the procedure commanded by the State Constitution,” said New York State Court of Appeals Chief Judge DiFiore.

This is a monumental and nationally significantly win that will certainly result in more competitive Congressional and State Senate contests this fall. This decision legally validates what Conservatives, Republicans, editorial boards, and good government groups have been saying for months: the court rejected lines were right out of the Tammany Hall playbook. This is a good day for democracy in New York.

Hochul Moves to “Fix” Lt. Governor Primary

Governor Hochul never disappoints when it comes to her self-centered approach to politics.

Her cynical attempt to remove corrupt former Lt. Governor Benjamin from the primary ballot has even turned off Democrats in the Legislature. Changing the playing field in the middle of the game is unacceptable, though not surprising as New York State Democrats are in disarray all over the state.

Hochul, if she wins her primary, will simply need to figure out how to campaign with an avowed socialist, Ana Maria Archila, or extreme progressive candidate and former far left NYC Councilmember, Diana Renya.

Try as she might, Governor Kathy Hochul can’t fool New Yorkers, but it’s not from lack of trying.

Read my full statement here.

Paul Rodriguez for New York State Comptroller

Last year’s Conservative Party candidate for NYC Comptroller is this year’s Republican/Conservative candidate for NYS Comptroller.

Paul did amazingly well in 2021 for a candidate running on just the Conservative Party line in the city. With a diverse financial background and a common-sense approach, it is no wonder he did so well.

Current State Comptroller, Democrat Tom DiNapoli, is a go along to get along incumbent with a track record of avoiding any confrontation with New York’s Governors. With New York’s culture of criminality in government, Cuomo, Hochul, and disgraced ex Lt. Governor Benjamin seem to have functioned quite well under DiNapoli’s tenure as the “taxpayer’s watchdog”.

Brooklyn, NY - “Today’s court victory against Kathy Hochul’s and the Democratic state legislators’ attempted gerrymandering of New York senate and congressional lines will be heard all across America. Mrs. Hochul and her Democrat colleagues blatantly attempted to subvert the will of voters, who expressly passed a referendum to create a nonpartisan redistricting commission just a few years ago. Today, the Governor and Democratic Party leaders had their hats handed to them.

“This decision legally validates what Conservatives, Republicans, editorial boards, and good government groups have been saying for months: the court-rejected lines were right out of the Tammany Hall playbook. This is a good day for democracy in New York.”

An interesting article by James Piereson and Naomi Schaefer Riley in City-Journal:  Dazed and Confused/Remote learning has created a population of college students in dire need of remedial education.   The article notes that “If the past is any guide, colleges will try to accommodate struggling students by requiring less work from them. They will lower expectations in the name of saving students from the stress and anxiety of failing. They will offer higher grades in the name of equity. Some of the professors interviewed for the Chronicle story said that they would do more “hands on” or experiential learning because those kinds of classes get students more “engaged.” But these approaches merely pass students along, without addressing the underlying problem.”  Stating this, isn’t it obvious why some, not all, students are dazed and confused since their whole educational life they have been coddled; never receiving red marks on their papers and certainly not allowing students to fail.

Brooklyn, NY – “Try as she might, Governor Kathy Hochul can’t fool New Yorkers, but it’s not from lack of trying. Ever since joining disgraced ex-governor Andrew Cuomo in the Executive Chamber, Mrs. Hochul has been working to mislead us on everything from bail reform to nursing home deaths to ridiculous stadium deals. Now, she’s pushing legislators to pass a bill that would only benefit her personally by getting her criminally indicted Lt. Governor off the ballot. New Yorkers see this for what it is: another blatantly self-serving political ploy from a governor looking out only for herself. The time for change is now.”

Redistricting: Republican/Conservatives: 2; Democrats: 0

The BIG news yesterday was that a panel of five mid-level appellate judges the majority found the congressional map was unconstitutional — a decision that, if upheld, would block the use of those district lines for the upcoming midterm elections in November.  Essentially, this is a huge win for all New Yorkers since the judges ruled the 2022 congressional map itself “was drawn to discourage competition and favor Democrats.”  The case heads to the Court of Appeals, most likely next week. National Review reports the win here.  Chairman Kassar’s statement on the ruling can be read here. The ruling can be read here.

Brooklyn, NY “The New York State Conservative Party applauds today’s decision on the Democratic Party’s gerrymandered New York congressional lines by the Appellate Division, Fourth Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of The State Of New York. Governor Kathy Hochul and the Democratic Party clearly drew district lines unconstitutionally to benefit themselves in this November’s congressional elections.  We wish that today’s decision included State Senate and Assembly lines, which were cynically drawn by the Democrats as well.

“We are also pleased that a Special Master is working on an independent set of lines while the State Legislature is given one last chance to fix its wrong.  It is our understanding that the New York State Court of Appeals has agreed to hear this case.”
