Congressman Peter King Announces Retirement

Long time New York Representative and friend of the Conservative Party, Congressman Peter King, announced he will not seek re-election to New York’s 2nd Congressional District in 2020.

Rep. King’s illustrious career includes holding the title of Ranking Member and Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee. He took a leadership role in helping keep New York and America safe following the horrific September, 11th 2001 terrorist attacks.

Most recently, he led a ferocious bipartisan effort that allowed for full funding of the 9/11 Compensation Fund to care for first responders who have developed major illnesses from their time working at Ground Zero.

Rep. King worked tirelessly for his constituents and I wish him the best of luck. Long Island, New York and America will surely miss Peter King. I am proud to call him a friend.

Kangaroo Court Convenes for Impeachment Hearing, Stefanik wins the day.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH 4th District), who was appointed to the House Intelligence Committee last week, led the charge, asking tough questions to Ukraine Ambassador William Taylor and laying into him over his claims that he knew President Trump to be withholding aid as he sought an investigation from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company in which Hunter Biden was a board member.

Ambassador Taylor had stated that he had a “clear” understanding that aid would only be released to the Ukraine if President Zelensky requested an investigation into Hunter Biden. Rep. Jordan referred to three meetings that took place between President Zelensky and Ambassador Taylor in which Taylor confirmed “there was not discussion of linkage” between aid and an investigation at any point in those meetings.

“Now, with all due respect, Ambassador, your clear understanding was obviously wrong, because it didn’t happen” Jordan said while Taylor grinned in his direction.

“Ambassador Taylor recalls that Mr. Morrison told Ambassador Taylor that I told Mr. Morrison that I conveyed this message to Mr. Yermak on September 1, 2019, in connection with Vice President Pence’s visit to Warsaw and a meeting with President Zelensky,” Jordan twice read out loud from Ambassador Sondland’s statement.

“We got six people having four conversations in one sentence, and you just told me this is where you got your clear understanding,” Jordan said before confirming with Taylor that he was not on the call between President Trump and President Zelensky.

However, it was not Rep. Jordan who was the strongest voice of the day. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-C NY 21st District) came out firing and earned high praise from pundits around the country as the most effective questioner of the day.

“Number one, Ukraine received the aid,” and “number two, there was in fact no investigation into Biden,” Stefanik said in her opening.

She did not stop there. She then took on U.S. Diplomat George Kent regarding the corruption at Burisma Holdings, the aforementioned gas company that paid Hunter Biden in excess of $50,000 a month to simply be a member of their board.

Kent, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs at the State Department, continued to receive a grilling from Stefanik, “You testified that the issue of corruption in Burisma was in the U.S. interest because, and this is from your deposition, that we had made a commitment to Ukrainian Government in 2014 to try to recover an estimated tens of billions of dollars of stolen assets out of the country.”

“That is, the stolen assets there were in the name of the owner of Burisma,” Kent responded.  “He was the one who we believed had stolen the money.”

Stefanik, staying with the no quid pro quo hardline, and subsequent questions asked of Kent, proved to be more productive than any of her colleagues on Capitol Hill Wednesday.

Stefanik’s intelligence and preparation was on full display. I have come to expect nothing less from our Congresswoman from the North Country.

Governor Cuomo, JCOPE in joint effort to protect Cuomo Advisor Joseph Percoco

 While I have come to expect these types of antics from Governor Cuomo, I am surprised the NYC Joint Commission on Public Ethics would stoop to these levels.

The Times Union reported Wednesday that insiders at JCOPE provided the Governor with information regarding the potential investigation into Joseph Percoco, Cuomo’s top aide. Strong evidence previously showed Percoco to have improperly conducted work out of the governor’s office while not a public employee.

These allegations of a leak come after either a member of Cuomo’s staff, or Cuomo himself, was provided with information regarding a private vote into the decision to investigate Percoco.

JCOPE board member, Julie Garcia, said she was contacted after the board’s vote by a member of State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie’s staff.

“I was alarmed when I was contacted so quickly after that meeting,” Julie Garcia said

“I was being told the governor knew how I voted in executive session, even though I was unable to confirm whether or not the information was accurate.”

One thing we know for certain, Governor Cuomo believes himself to be above the law as evident by his continuous disregard and attitude towards the rules. Yet more reason for Conservatives to rally around our statewide candidates and take back the New York State Senate in 2020.

Statement by Chairman Kassar
on Congressman Peter King’s Decision

Brooklyn, NY – Congressman Peter King’s decision to not seek re-election in 2020 will be a loss to his constituents and especially to all Americans.  His leadership and expertise in homeland security and counter terrorism has been instrumental in keeping New York and America safe since the horrific 9/11 unprecedent assault on our homeland.

His long and lustrous career in the House of Representatives, fighting for his constituents, will be sorely missed, but we are confident Congressman King will always be available to continue the fight for his constituents and all Americans.

HYPER-LEFT POLICIES JOLTING NEW YORK VOTERS: STATE CONSERVATIVE PARTY

Brooklyn, NY, Nov. 8…High-tax, anti-business, and soft-on-crime policies coming out of Democratic-controlled Albany are jolting everyday New Yorkers, and Tuesday’s election results reflect it, New York State Conservative Chairman Gerard Kassar today said.

“Despite some misleading news reports about this week’s elections, Tuesday’s results show a growing backlash against unhinged policy positions being driven by Albany’s hard political left,” Chairman Kassar said. “Voters around the state rejected this unbridled ‘progressivism’ by supporting Conservatives and Republicans at the polls, and we are confident that this trend is only just beginning. Leftist, one-party rule will spell disaster for this state, and voters are already beginning to react to it.”

Chairman Gerard Kassar noted Conservative-backed victories on Tuesday, including:

  • Taking back the Town of Hempstead – the largest town in the United States with 800K people;
  • Winning a civil court seat in Richmond County on the predominantly Democratic North Shore;
  • Flipping the town of Yorktown in Westchester County with 33 year- old Matt Slater a true rising star;
  • A landslide victory for returning Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro against Governor Cuomo’s handpicked candidate;
  • A district attorney win in heavily Democratic Dutchess County;
  • Flipping the Clinton County Legislature together with many other gains in the North Country;
  • Taking back the City of Canandaigua;
  • Winning every non-judicial election in Wayne County;
  • George Scaringe holding a lead in the Town of Colonie;
  • Mike Kavanaugh leading in the count for Ulster County District Attorney;
  • All 4 candidates in the Fourth Judicial District winning, with the Conservative Party line providing the margin of victory to Michael R. Cuevas.

The Conservative Party provided the margin of victory in many races, including Hempstead, the Richmond Judicial race as well as several Livingston County Judicial races, the Yorktown race, the City of Canandaigua in Ontario County, and Michael P. Cuevas in the 4th Judicial District, Chairman Kassar noted.

The Conservative Party attributes many of this year’s victories to the implementation of dangerous and outrageous policies on crime, taxes, and government spending, and on the cultural battles that caught the attention of New Yorkers from all localities and all walks of life.

“Democrats in Albany are turning this state into a laboratory for off-the-wall ‘progressivism’ and everyday New Yorkers are noticing it,” Kassar continued. “This is not the New York that the average voter wants, and if Tuesday is an early indicator, there will be hell to pay for the government malpractice we are witnessing. Mark my words: The pendulum is swinging in New York.”

RECAPPING STATE-WIDE NEW YORK ELECTIONS FROM NOV. 5

The Conservative Party has a lot to celebrate from this week’s local elections, as we explained in our press release issued on Nov. 6.

Here are some of the highlights we have singled out:

  • Taking back the Town of Hempstead – the largest town in the United States with 800K people;
  • Winning a civil court seat in Richmond County on the predominately Democratic North Shore;
  • Flipping the town of Yorktown in Westchester County with 33 year- old Matt Slater a true     rising star;
  • A landslide victory for returning Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro against Governor Cuomo’s handpicked candidate;
  • Flipping the Clinton County Legislature together with many other gains in the North Country;
  • Taking back the City of Canandaigua;
  • In Wayne County every single non-Judicial election was won by a candidate supported by the Wayne County Conservative Party;
  • Our candidate George Scaringe is holding a lead in the Town of Colonie;
  • In the Fourth Judicial District all 4 of our candidates won with the Conservative Party    providing the margin of victory to Michael R. Cuevas;
  • In the Town of Southhold (Putnam County) registered conservative, John P. O’Connor, was elected to the Town Board;
  • In the Town of Gilboa (Schoharie County) registered conservative, Alicia Terry, was elected Town Supervisor;
  • In Erie County, registered conservative Joseph Lorigio, was re-elected to the County Legislature where he serves as the Minority Leader;
  • In Ulster County, Michael J. Kavanagh, is leading by 3 votes, due to the votes cast on the Conservative Party line.

Unfortunately, Monroe County Executive candidate Cheryl Dinolfo lost her race. She would have been a spectacular public official, but we did make gains in other races throughout Monroe County to somewhat off-set that unfortunate result.

We would like to thank Governor Andrew Cuomo and the out-of-control Democratic state legislature for rallying the people of New York against them, and sending voters in our direction!

MEDICAID PERIL IS ANOTHER STAIN ON CUOMO’S ALREADY TARNISHED LEGACY

The New York state government continues to come apart under Gov. Cuomo’s far-left stewardship, with Medicaid being in the red by the billions largely due to his fiscal recklessness.

The state is planning to kick the can down the road by allocating $2 billion in Medicaid spending for next year’s budget, but the only problem is they are still $3 billion in the red in the current year. Cuomo will have to cut at least $1.5 billion out of Medicaid by March for the program to remain afloat according to analysts.

Cuomo has finally mustered the courage to admit that Medicaid is in crisis mode, although he still severely downplays the severity of the crisis.

“We have a reduction in federal aid, we have an increase in the labor costs, we have an increase in coverage for the program — which is a good thing. They’re all good factors besides the reduction in federal aid, but it is gonna be a major financial issue for the state for next year,” the governor said.

Bill Hammond, who works as the health policy director of the Empire Center for Public Policy, puts the blame squarely on Cuomo for the crisis.

“It was Cuomo’s good idea, at the very beginning of his first term in 2011, to impose an inflation-based cap on Medicaid spending growth, bringing a modicum of fiscal discipline to the notoriously bloated program,” Hammond explained.

However, Cuomo eventually weakened his own policy which is what ended up leading to the crisis.

“Cuomo and the Legislature weakened the policy with carve-outs and loopholes. The biggest exemption applied to expenses from a major minimum-wage hike, to as high as $15 an hour. That is now costing Medicaid about $2 billion a year,” Hammond said.

“Medicaid is state government’s costliest program and most awesome responsibility. The millions who depend on it for care, and the taxpayers who foot the bill, deserve better from their chief executive in Albany,” Hammond concluded.

Unfortunately for New Yorkers, they will ultimately end up footing the bill for Cuomo’s jaw-dropping profligacy and incompetence.

PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS NOW APPOINTED 1/4TH OF ALL CIRCUIT COURT JUDGES

 President Donald Trump has achieved an incredible milestone in his goal to make America great again. He has now appointed 25 percent of all circuit court judges who are currently serving on the bench.

“As of this afternoon, one in every four judges on the federal courts of appeals will have been nominated by [President] Trump and confirmed by us here in the Senate,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced in a Twitter post on Thursday.

“That’s 45 new lifetime appellate judges committed to the key principle that judges should apply our laws and the Constitution as they are actually written, not as the judge might personally wish they’d been written,” he added.

Trump made the announcement on Wednesday during an event at the White House that he had already appointed 150 federal judges and expects for that number to be as high as 182 within a couple months.

“In terms of I’d like to say quality and quantity we are going to be just about number one by the time we’re finished,” Trump said.

Conservative hard-liners in the Senate are proud of the President’s tremendous accomplishment and the lasting ramifications it will have on the nation.

“Few legacies will be longer lasting than this judicial one. These new judges are principled constitutionalists who have demonstrated excellence and professionalism throughout their legal careers,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) wrote in an op/ed on Wednesday.

Liberals are extremely angry about the progress that Trump has made.

“These judges are a way of advancing conservative political goals that cannot be achieved through the proper means,” said Sam Berger of the liberal Center for American Progress.

“Under Obama, they prevented him from appointing judges and when Trump became president, they changed the rules so they could rush through a number of ideological and in many cases unqualified judges to the bench,” Berger added.

“As a senator, I have now worked with four separate administrations, Democrat and Republican, on the appointment of federal judges,” Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said. “I can say with perfect confidence that over the last three years, President Trump has nominated — and Senate Republicans have approved — the most unqualified and radical nominees in my time in this body.”

Elections have consequences, and Trump is making great use of his time in the Oval Office by completely remaking the judiciary. This may be the most compelling reason of all for conservatives to pound the pavement and re-elect him as President next year.

Is the Press Corps getting tired of Gov. Cuomo’s coveting publicity?

New York is facing a severe budget shortfall.   This is a bombshell related to the fact that Medicaid is facing a real funding problem.  And it isn’t only the fiscally conservative Empire Center that is reporting the bad news.  Read Crain’s New York Business on the looming budget deficit here.

This is so typical of Governor Cuomo:  Cuomo says no new funding for criminal justice reforms.  NY law enforcement has reasons to be worried about the new reforms.  And counties cannot keep absorbing the costs of unfunded mandates; residents cannot afford any increases in taxes, and the 2% barely covers the naturally occurring increases.  The exodus of New Yorkers will continue.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is on the defense in his Op-Ed countering Michael Goodwin’s  November 2, column.  Fortunately, for all New Yorkers, the NY Post editorial board, stand by their “intrepid columnist.”  Alas, the Left will never accept the facts, to their own detriment.

But there is hope.  Some are beginning to see the facts; for example, Candace Owens, who in 2016 was a self-described liberal.  Now she is the leader of the Blexit (Blexit means the exit by black Americans from a Democratic Party that takes their vote for granted) movement, and the worst nightmare for democrats.  Watch out Al Sharpton, there is a new, attractive spokesperson making her mark in African-American communities and Ms. Owen is making it by recognizing the virtue of HOPE.  Kudos to Candace Owens.

More bad news for democrats:  State Elections Aren’t All about Trump.

Congressman Adam Schiff explain this:  ‘Coup has started,’ whistleblower’s attorney said in 2017 posts calling for impeachment.   Mark S. Zaid wrote on his certified Twitter account on Jan. 30, 2017, Mr. Trump’s 11th day in power, that “#coup has started. First of many steps. #rebellion. #impeachment will follow ultimately. #lawyers.”

Another blow to Congressman Schiff’s impeachment quest.

Then there is this:  The Whistleblower’s Other Attorney Also Called for President Trump to Be Removed from Office

Before Donald J. Trump was president, he did this.

About early voting in New York State; New York needs to rethink early voting and Less than 20% of NYC voters cast ballots this year.  Your tax dollars pay for early voting, is it worth the expense?  Next year is a Presidential election, we will see if there is an improvement.

Good news regarding Tuesday’s elections.   John P. O’Connor was elected to the Town Council in the Town of Southeast (Putnam County)  and Alicia Terry was elected the Town of Gilboa (Schoharie County)   Supervisor.   Joseph Lorigo was re-elected to the Erie County Legislature .  Mr. Lorigo  serves as the Minority Leader.  All are enrolled conservatives.  As we get more information, we will let you know.

CONSERVATIVES TOUT WINS ACROSS NEW YORK STATE

 Brooklyn, NY – State Chairman Gerard Kassar noted that the Conservative Party had a great election night due to the efforts of excellent local leaders of county organizations who put our candidates over the top.   Just some of the highlights are below:

  • Taking back the Town of Hempstead – the largest town in the United States with 800K people.
  • Winning a civil court seat in Richmond County on the predominately Democratic North Shore.
  • Flipping the town of Yorktown in Westchester County with 33 year- old Matt Slater a true rising star
  • A landslide victory for returning Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro against Governor Cuomo’s handpicked candidate
  • Flipping the Clinton County Legislature together with many other gains in the North Country
  • Taking back the City of Canandaigua
  • In Wayne County every single non-Judicial election was won by a candidate supported by the Wayne County Conservative Party.
  • Our candidate George Scaringe is holding a lead in the Town of Colonie.
  • In the Fourth Judicial District all 4 of our candidates won with the Conservative Party providing the margin of victory to Michael R. Cuevas.

The Party provided the margin of victory in many races including Hempstead, the Richmond Judicial race as well as several Livingston County Judicial races, the Yorktown race, and the City of Canandaigua in Ontario County.

Despite the unfortunate loss of our outstanding Monroe County Executive candidate, Cheryl Dinolfo, Monroe County Conservatives had many victories. This can also be said of many of our county organizations who saw gains both small and large.

The Conservative Party attributes many of this year’s victories to the implementation by the New York State Legislature of outrageous polices, on crime, taxes, government spending and cultural battles that caught the attention of New Yorkers from all localities and all walks of life.

Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio
Have No Compassion for The Victims
The Victims of the Crime are Also Entitled to Justice

 Brooklyn, NY – What were they thinking?  The democratic controlled New York State Legislature passed and the Governor signed a bill to eliminate bail for defendants charged with an array of misdemeanor and felony crimes and made it retroactive!

Thus, the Governor is able to free them even before the law’s effective date.  To add salt on the proverbial wound, Mayor de Blasio is offering incentives – that taxpayers are paying for – movie passes and gift cards to encourage them to return to court.

This is a complete miscarriage of true justice.  The people truly harmed are ignored, while the perpetrator is rewarded.  Taxpayers are forced to pay for this injustice.

Is it any wonder why people are fleeing New York in droves?

Chairman Kassar’s wrap-up discusses the Impeachment Resolution, Governor Cuomo’s lemmings and the death of an ISIS coward.

Welcome to Chairman Kassar’s Weekly Wrap-Up for November 1, 2019.

 NEW YORK CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS VOTE ‘YES’ ON IMPEACHMENT RESOLUTION

The Democratic Party’s Congressional Members from New York have failed the people, all of which have voted affirmatively on an impeachment resolution Thursday that advances the unprecedented witch hunt against President Donald Trump.

It is particularly shameful for Reps. Sean Maloney. Max Rose, Paul Tonko and Anthony Brandisi. These are legislators who advertised themselves as moderates to trick unsuspecting voters into putting them into office before stabbing their constituents in the back with this vote.

“My constituents want to judge things for themselves, and I support them. They want more information and public testimony,“ Brandisi said to justify his cowardly actions. “The only way to ensure this actually happens is to take the investigation into the public arena and shine a much-needed bright light.”

Congressman Max Rose said, “The President says he is innocent, so all we are saying is prove it.”  It is shameful that Congressman Rose, an attorney, does not understand the basic American judicial plank that we are all innocent until proven guilty.

The behavior of these “moderate” Democrats shows that the entire party fold has radicalized without exception. Democratic Party policy is now dictated by the likes of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – the “Green New Deal” proponent who is striving for radical communism. The days of the JFK-style reasonable Democrat are long gone.

The resolution ultimately passed by a 232-196 margin, and brings the country one step closer to civil war as the Democrats will do anything in their power to oust President Trump before the 2020 presidential election.

GOV. ANDREW CUOMO’S LEMINGS BREAK THE LAW TO DEFEAT FUSION VOTING

It was discovered this week that Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s hand-picked bureaucrats were in such a rush to destroy the practice of fusion voting that they did not even take their Oaths of Office before wielding power. The Party issued a press release on this major issue on Tuesday.

“Today we learned that his commissioners, including State Democratic Party boss Jay Jacobs, were so rushed to do Mr. Cuomo’s bidding that they failed to even take an Oath of Office, a strict requirement of New York State law. What an incredible waste of money: All of the commission’s previous votes, hearings, and activities have now been rendered null and void.”

“Andrew Cuomo’s commission to exact revenge on political foes is now officially a disaster. It’s been obvious since the commission was authorized by the state budget that this slapstick assemblage was all about Mr. Cuomo’s political grudges and nothing to do with public policy or sentiment,” I wrote in a Op-Ed printed in the NY Daily News also on Tuesday.

New York State GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy is echoing the concerns that I covered in my Op-Ed, and hammered Cuomo’s lawlessness and incompetence during a Public Finance Commission Hearing that took place earlier this week.

“This commission served no purpose other than to do the dishonest bidding of Governor Cuomo,” Langworthy said.

Public Finance Commissioner and state Democratic Party Chair Jay Jacobs confirmed to the New York Times this week that he will be using his power to destroy the fusion voting system that has given a voice to conservative and liberal activists to oppose the establishment political machine.

“I haven’t settled on any particular number yet,” he said. “What I do know is I am going to propose a dramatic increase in that threshold.”

“If we have a campaign finance program, it’s going to have to be able to pay for those candidates if they qualify and that’s what this is all about because the qualification levels now to become a minor party are way too low,” Jacobs added, completely unconcerned about pesky little things like the rule of law, political disenfranchisement, and the Oath of Office.

My Op-Ed strongly advised Cuomo to shut this bureaucracy down before he and other concerned interests, such as the left-wing Working Families Party, stop their unlawful measures in the courts.

I concluded with, “Mr. Cuomo should shut down this charade before it becomes even more embarrassing and stop interfering with state Election Law that is the express purview of the duly elected Legislature.”

ISIS LEADER AL-BAGHDADI ‘DIED LIKE A COWARD’ AFTER RAID BY U.S. FORCES

 President Donald Trump celebrated the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on Sunday, who blew himself up after his hideout in Syria was raided by U.S. forces.

“He died like a dog, he died like a coward,” Trump told the nation. Trump gave full credit to U.S. Forces who conducted the mission without any casualties.

“No personnel were lost in the operation, while a large number of Baghdadi’s fighters and companions were killed with him,” Trump said, before adding that the U.S. retrieved “highly sensitive” information related to ISIS.

“You are the very best anywhere in the world,” Trump said about the U.S. Forces who apprehended Baghdadi.

While President Trump’s “America First” policy has ISIS on the run, they still maintain their terror operation in a limited capacity. ISIS confirmed that Baghdadi had been killed, but have appointed a new leader to head up their Islamic extremist organization.

“The Shura Council met immediately after confirming the martyrdom of Sheik Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The leaders of the Mujahedeen agreed after consultation with their brethren and acting according to the will (of al-Baghdadi) they pledged allegiance to Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi as the new leader of the Believers,” new ISIS spokesman Abu Hamza al-Qurayshi said.

“So, don’t rejoice America for the death of Sheik al-Baghdadi,” the spokesman said. “Don’t you know America that the state (IS) today is at the doorstep of Europe and is in Central Africa? It is also expanding and remaining from east to west.”

While Americans may be happy that Baghdadi is gone, they will not be rejoicing until ISIS is finished for good. President Trump’s policies have helped to destroy the caliphate, but there is much more work that needs to be done before ISIS is wiped off the planet for good.
