Former defensive lineman for the NY Jets, Rev. Michael Faulkner, thinks the Hill and Bill (the Mayor, not her husband) “joke” was insensitive at the very least.  Here is the rest of what he said “On the Record.”

After that debacle, Hillary (and Bernie this time) are off in Fantasyland according to this NY Post editorial.

A young officer was stripped of his gun, badge and paycheck just for speaking ill of the Mayor.  The officer puts his life on the line every day, speaks his mind in a non-threatening way against the Mayor and is suspended for that?  Will the “you can’t speak your mind police” start suspending others on the force. Maybe the Mayor should be suspended for his “joke”.

USA Today has a very harsh Op-Ed against the Attorney Generals who are conspiring to end free speech.  Read it here.  Maybe the reason the AG’s are trying to crack down on dissenters, is because more studies rebut the causes.

Kudos to the supervisors in Livingston County for trying to defy another state mandate that costs taxpayers.  And it isn’t only Livingston County that is faced with the mandated increases by the NYS Legislative Commission on Legislative, Judicial and Executive Compensation. If you check out short biographies of the commissioners, you can rest assured that they will always see a need to increase compensation.  If the commissioners were elected by the public and not appointed by those seeking increases, taxpayers may have a better chance of seeing their hard earned income being given to others, assuming they are still living in New York State.

Daily Update

According to the NY Post, Mayor de Blasio insisted on Sunday that he knows nothing about the investigation that has made headlines since Friday.  Is anyone surprised at his response?  Politico New York has more on the Mayor’s mess.  Politico also reports that according to the minutes taken at the June 24, 2015 meeting of the Mayor’s Office of Contract Services, (the meeting was sparsely attended) that no one spoke against deed restriction change that allowed a health care facility on Manhattan’s Lower East Side to become a luxury condo development, another controversial subject the Mayor in embroiled in.  Over the weekend, Michael Goodwin wrote about how de Blasio’s lust for power will be his final downfall.  Sometimes you do not need a crystal ball to tell the future.

Weekly Wrap-Up

The old saying goes that even a broken clock is right twice a day, and Bill Clinton hit one of the them yesterday when he took on the Black Lives Matter movement.  The strain of the primary season is apparent with his outburst and certainly with Hillary’s meltdowns.  The Investor’s Business Daily has this to say about Hillary’s melting.  Few expected Bernie to be such a thorn in the coronation process, certainly not Hill and Bill, but he is, and the democratic primary is heating up and getting personal.  Even after Bernie dismissed Hillary’s problems with her emails and server, which will become front and center between her and the eventual republican winner

Grover Norquist writes about the 6 new voting blocks that won’t want Hillary in the White House, which also helps explain why the Democrats are worried that the Sanders/Clinton rhetoric risks a White House win.

Charles Krauthammer says in today’s column that the “coming train wreck” on the republican side makes one think that the candidates are trying to lose the general election in November.

Mayor de Blasio has some explaining to do says the NY Post and the NY Daily News.

This is very disturbing. The fact that a US Attorney General kept the public in the dark about Iranian hackers until after President Obama had his Iranian Deal, is more than disturbing. Governor Cuomo has done it again; he has banned non-essential state-funded travel to Mississippi.  (If it is non-essential, why is anyone going, but that discussion we can leave for another day.)  Governor Cuomo, who recently traveled to Cuba — where diversity is almost non-existent — had this to say “We believe our diversity is our greatest strength, and we will continue to reject the politics of division and exclusion…”  If the politics of division and exclusion is granting religious organizations the ability to practice their First Amendment constitutional rights then Governor Cuomo does not understand our Constitution at all nor does he understand theDeclaration of Independence that began our journey to freedom.

E. J.  McMahon begins his Op-Ed in today’s New York Post with this, “The budget adopted by New York’s Legislature last week was described by Gov. Weekly Wrap-Up

With last night’s budget announcement, Gov. Cuomo declared New York “the progressive leader” thanks to the new $15 minimum wage – showing that his main priority is and always will be politics and ideology, not good policy.

The budget contains new regulations like the $15 minimum wage and paid family leave; a huge spending increase for union-controlled schools, another increase in “transportation spending” that is supposed to fix roads and bridges (a promise New Yorkers have heard time and again) and an overall spending increase; but no ethics reforms to curb corruption in Albany.

Here is one list of winners (unions, big government) and losers small business owners, good government, democracy).

Some think the budget’s tax cut is a worthwhile accomplishment – but it doesn’t kick in until 2018, and even then, will it make a difference if more and more taxpayers leave the state?  (Remember, it’s already happening, and “progressive” trendsetter California – an inspiration for Cuomo and the liberals – is leading the way here too.)

What do you think – what’s the worst part of the new state budget? Who gets hurt the most with this new deal? Do you think tax relief is enough to make up for the new “progressive” mandates?  Vote now in our new Weekly Poll.

Have a great weekend!

Daily Update

Most news reports are saying there is an agreement on the NYS Budget, but like Obamacare, those who are voting on the Budget will not really know what it contains until after it passes.  The news, however, on the minimum wage is distressing, as it appears that Governor Cuomo’s union-backed increase is included, despite the outcry of many who opposed the job-killing increase.  Former comptroller candidate, Harry Wilson, spoke to Fred Dicker on Monday, (Mr. Wilson begins at the 23:30 mark) countless editorials and economic studies and our own efforts (see previous posts and press releases) on behalf of the taxpayers. The Bully-in-Chief uses his bully pulpit to enforce what he wants. New York’s decline will escalate dramatically if Republicans lose the NYS Senate in this presidential year, as opposed to the death by a thousand cuts it currently is experiencing with the Governor, Assembly Speaker and Independent Democratic Conference Leader coalescing for their agenda. Taxpayers have one hope — give the Republicans the majority.  If not, New York State will become New York City or a modern day ghost town.

Daily Update

Rob Astorino opines on Gov. Cuomo’s disastrous plan to raise the minimum wage.

This just in from Assemblyman Gary Finch...             “A $15 an hour minimum wage is an extension of the failed policies that have led us to climb down the ladder of success. It is an extension of the failed policies that have made our state dead last in business climate. Instead, we need to cut taxes and reform regulations so that talented job creators and innovative entrepreneurs invest in our communities. They’re the ones who can build ladders of opportunity for the working poor to climb up into the middle class,” said Finch.

Daily Update

Unions have a big win in the US Supreme Court today, in great part due to the death of Justice Antonin Scalia.  The 4-4 decision leaves in place the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals favoring the Teacher’s Union.  However, the decision does not does not set a national precedent, which many believe would have changed if Justice Scalia had lived to give his decision.

How ironic is it that both Gov. Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio, banned travel to North Carolina — after the state legislature passed, and the Governor signed, a bill overriding a bill passed by the city of Charlotte that gave new legal protections for LGBT individuals, including transgender people the right to use the bathroom of the gender with which they identify — despite the fact that they traveled to and celebrate Cuba where freedoms are almost non-existent.

It is looking like the legislative leaders are about to cave to the political pressures of radical unions according to this report on PoliticoNY.com, in defiance of the many strong arguments against such an increase in the minimum wage.  The Daily Signal looks at what will likely happen in California after yesterday’s announcement of going forward with a $15 per hour wage and what will likely happen in Washington, D. C.  Here is what Investor’s Business Daily says about California’s new minimum wage.
