The week began celebrating America’s birthday and all the reasons why America is still the beacon to freedom. The week ends on grief —the unfortunate deaths of two men by police officers and the revenge carnage of five innocent police officers gunned down while on duty protecting people exercising their right to protest. America mourns again and our president while stating “there is no possible justification for these kinds of attacks or any violence against law enforcement” makes it political by ending his statement with this “We also know that when people are armed with powerful weapons, unfortunately it makes attacks like these more deadly and more tragic and in the days ahead we’re going to consider those realities as well.” A night of heartbreak brings resolve: Back the Blue.
Hillary Clinton did not have a good week despite the fact that she will not face criminal charges. The FBI proved Hillary Clinton lied to the American public. As The Hill points out, Hillary has a dilemma, should she have a press conference? We thought that would be a good question to include in our weekly poll, be sure to let us know what you think.
We also learned yesterday that Hillary Clinton let individuals without security clearance have access to her non-secured server. Comey also noted that “I don’t think that our investigation established that she was actually particularly sophisticated with respect to classified information, and the levels, and the treatment.” This begs the question — how can a woman who was First Lady for eight years, a US Senator for eight years, Secretary of State for 4 years, not be particularly sophisticated with respect to classified information and still become the leader of the free world? Our second question gives you the opportunity to give your thoughts on this.
Noted economist, Larry Kudlow, lets us know Hillary has no growth plan for “lousy economy”
The Daily Signal gives us 7 highlights from yesterday’s Congressional Hearing with FBI Director Comey. Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, believes that Director Comey’s testimony torpedoed the bureau’s reputation which is our third question in this weeks poll. Charles Krauthammer tries to explain Director Comey’s thought process in reaching his decision but ultimately does not agree with it.
In state news, Governor Cuomo defends his clearly political ad campaign for Start-Up NY, which has a dismal record and critiqued in the NY Torch article here. The Governor was also chastised by Comptroller DiNapoli regarding the Excelsior Program. Using taxpayers money isGovernor Cuomo’s solution to problems New Yorker’s face instead of cutting taxes across the board and eliminating regulations that stifle job growth.
Stay safe and enjoy your weekend.
