Statement on Corrupt $5.1 Million Cuomo Book Deal/Ethics Commission from New York State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar

“Although the Conservative Party does not support a state ethics commission that allows law school deans to play a decisive role in the commission’s membership, we do support this week’s Court of Appeals decision.

“Mr. Cuomo’s book contract was negotiated at the same time that his administration was hiding data on the number of nursing home deaths in New York, a clear possible motive for malfeasance. In addition, taxpayer-paid state workers were used to help Mr. Cuomo write the book, at a minimum an ethics violation, The hefty advance on Mr. Cuomo’s book, ‘American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic,’ moreover, was way out of proportion with industry norms.
