Weekly Wrap-Up

This has been a busy week, and we have lots of news to cover.

First and foremost, we pray once again for the people of France, who find themselves in a painfully familiar spot: in the terrorists’ crosshairs

This latest attack is shocking and barbaric but not necessarily surprising, the Daily Signal notes.

How will France and the West respond? As Amir Taheri writes in the New York Post, “President Hollande must admit that his nation, perhaps the whole democratic portion of the globe, is at war, a war over two mutually exclusive visions of the future.”

With terrorists once again flexing their muscles, what do you believe is the likelihood of another Islamic terror attack here at home in the next six months? That’s the first question in our new Weekly Poll.

I’m deeply concerned about America’s safety, and I’m interested to see what you think.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has made it official – he has selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate.

Some conservatives are thrilled – others are concerned

What’s your initial take on Trump’s pick – are you generally happy with Mike Pence as the Republican vice-presidential nominee? That’s the second question in our Weekly Poll.

Some polls have the Democrats “freaked out” over their prospects for November.

Of course Hillary’s corruption doesn’t seem to bother the Democrats at all – and there’s plenty of it. As Investor’s Business Daily notes, the FBI may have exonerated Hillary, but the public has not.

Mayor de Blasio is proving himself so corrupt that he could be a perfect fit for a new Clinton Administration.

And then there’s this more subtle corruption: Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is backtracking on her attacks against Donald Trump – attacks that call into question her credibility as an impartial jurist. The Post says Ginsburg’s regrets don’t cut it.

In this day and age, do you believe there’s any such thing as a truly impartial, unbiased Supreme Court justice? That’s the final Poll question for this week.

Finally, let’s not forget the damage that Divider-in-Chief Obama did to our nation with his horribly politicized speech at this week’s Dallas memorial service.

Here are five big lies in the President’s speech – and remember that Hillary’s response was just as dreadful. Both of these so-called leaders should take lessons from Dallas Police Chief David Brown.

Have a great weekend!

Daily Update

Governor Andrew Cuomo has found a new way to spend your hard earned tax dollars!  He will have a year long Lottery so 2000 winners who can not afford the $680 application fee for citizenship will be picked up by us!  There goes another $1, 360,000 of your hard earned money.

Today’s New York Post editorial Facing the horrors of Dallas with grace and good sense show us how two good men lead by example.  John Podhoretz explains how President Obama ruined his Dallas memorial speech.   While many in the media praised POTUS’ speech — many also saw the self-serving political speech as just another political speech, not a memorial for our murdered police officers. Is there any wonder why police groups question Obama’s support.  Did we happen to mention that President Obama mentioned himself 45 times in his Dallas memorial speech?  Yes, 45 times!

Thank you, Professor Carol Swain, for having the courage to say the truth.  Rich Lowry has a few thoughts on Obama’s lies about police violence hurt more than they help.

Daily Update

Dallas mom: Hero cop died protecting me and my sons.  This is what police officers do, protect people.

Will President Obama continue to campaign for Hillary when she makes statements like this? There is no real friendship between the two of them and as long as she continues to jab our thin-skinned president one has to wonder how long he will stand by his woman.

Hillary Clinton’s sell-out to teachers: Kids will pay the price,  This will help keep President Obama standing by his woman.

Maureen Dowd, writes this in the NY Times:  “Hillary willfully put herself above the rules — again — and a president, campaign and party are all left twisting themselves into pretzels defending her.”  How does a woman write this and still believe she should be president?  Her column ends with “The Clintons work hard but don’t play by the rules. Imagine them in the White House with the benefit of low expectations.”  So Americans should put a woman in the White House knowing full well she does not play by the rules — yet demands that everyone else does — and think that she will bring honor to the White House.  Electing Hillary will bring us closer to life in Panem.

Hillary Clinton’s press conference phobia. Would you believe the author states in the article that”She’s just too damn professional for her own good.”  I guess he didn’t watch the FBI presser on Hillary’s non-indictment.  But he does go on to say “But Clinton’s inability or unwillingness to tolerate the mundanity of a press conference speaks to a psychological weakness that is almost unprecedented in modern American politics.”  Psychological weakness, extremely carelessness, untrustworthy…just some of the words used to describe the woman running for president of the greatest country in the world.

The Washington Post reminds us of an earlier near miss of a Hillary indictment.

Weekly Wrap-Up

The week began celebrating America’s birthday and all the reasons why America is still the beacon to freedom.  The week ends on grief —the unfortunate deaths of two men by police officers and the revenge carnage of five innocent police officers gunned down while on duty protecting people exercising their right to protest.  America mourns again and our president while stating “there is no possible justification for these kinds of attacks or any violence against law enforcement” makes it political by ending his statement with this “We also know that when people are armed with powerful weapons, unfortunately it makes attacks like these more deadly and more tragic and in the days ahead we’re going to consider those realities as well.”   A night of heartbreak brings resolve:  Back the Blue.

Hillary Clinton did not have a good week despite the fact that she will not face criminal charges.  The FBI proved Hillary Clinton lied to the American public. As The Hill points out, Hillary has a dilemma, should she have a press conference?  We thought that would be a good question to include in our weekly poll, be sure to let us know what you think.

We also learned yesterday that Hillary Clinton let individuals without security clearance have access to her non-secured server.  Comey also noted that “I don’t think that our investigation established that she was actually particularly sophisticated with respect to classified information, and the levels, and the treatment.”  This begs the question —  how can a woman who was First Lady for eight years, a US Senator for eight years, Secretary of State for 4 years, not be particularly sophisticated with respect to classified information and still become the leader of the free world?  Our second question gives you the opportunity to give your thoughts on this.

Noted economist, Larry Kudlow, lets us know Hillary has no growth plan for “lousy economy”

The Daily Signal gives us 7 highlights from yesterday’s Congressional Hearing with FBI Director Comey.  Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, believes that Director Comey’s testimony torpedoed the bureau’s reputation which is our third question in this weeks poll.  Charles Krauthammer tries to explain Director Comey’s thought process in reaching his decision but ultimately does not agree with it.

In state news, Governor Cuomo defends his clearly political ad campaign for Start-Up NY, which has a dismal record and critiqued in the NY Torch article here. The Governor was also chastised by Comptroller DiNapoli regarding the Excelsior Program.  Using taxpayers money isGovernor Cuomo’s solution to problems New Yorker’s face instead of cutting taxes across the board and eliminating regulations that stifle job growth.

Stay safe and enjoy your weekend.

Daily Update

Today is the third day that FBI Director James Comey is the predominate news topic.  Here is some of his testimony from today’s Congressional Hearing.   Townhall.com has highlights also, here, here and here.   The Washington Times adds to the discussion with this. The fact that there was no transcript of Hillary’s 3 hour interview with the FBI should make every American uncomfortable.

Daily Update

Today’s news is still focused on the stunning decision of FBI Director James Comely to not recommend a criminal indictment of Hillary Clinton.  The Washington Post’s Daily 202 led off with this headline:  Clinton’s credibility gap widens after FBI rebuke; (of course, to balance its coverage it has a fair amount of negative Trump paragraphs.)  Another Washington Post article has this as its headline:  Six things we learned from the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email,  Most media would have you believe nothing new was revealed,  but credit the Washington Post for this column.  One more headline from the Washington Post:  How the FBI director systematically dismantled Hillary Clinton’s email defense.  Even the New York Times acknowledged that the FBI findings damage many of Hillary’s claims

John Podhoretz hits the nail on the head with his column:  FBI just told us we are in bad hands with Hillary.  John Crudele reminds us Hillary’s e-mail mess isn’t the first scandal where she skirted indictment.  The NY Post editorial board states “the fix was in” in today’s editorial.

The left and right were stunned by the quickness of Comey’s decision, but we have not heard the last of it as Director Comey has been called to Congress to testify on Clinton’s emails

Will Congress ask Comey about the 7 most damning lines he used?  I’m sure Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) has his own questions since he called the director’s presser “surprising and confusing.”  But just in case Congressman Chaffetz needs some reminders about Hillary’s lies, he can use this article.

Here is the Daily Signal’s take on the Comey presser.

Daily Update

“Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.

For example, seven e-mail chains concern matters that were classified at the Top Secret/Special Access Program level when they were sent and received. These chains involved Secretary Clinton both sending e-mails about those matters and receiving e-mails from others about the same matters. There is evidence to support a conclusion that any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton’s position, or in the position of those government employees with whom she was corresponding about these matters, should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation. In addition to this highly sensitive information, we also found information that was properly classified as Secret by the U.S. Intelligence Community at the time it was discussed on e-mail (that is, excluding the later “up-classified” e-mails).

None of these e-mails should have been on any kind of unclassified system, but their presence is especially concerning because all of these e-mails were housed on unclassified personal servers not even supported by full-time security staff, like those found at Departments and Agencies of the U.S. Government—or even with a commercial service like Gmail.”

The rest of FBI Director James Comey statement is here.  When you read the statement, one can only conclude that Director Comey’s sterling reputation has been tarnishedLady Justice is no longer blind; today her biased judgement brought America closer to becoming an oligarchy.

Here is what the Washington Times thinks of Director Comey’s statement.  “He said that shouldn’t be seen as a green light to others — indeed, he said those who behave like Mrs. Clinton often face administrative sanctions from their employers, or lose security privileges. But with Mrs. Clinton out of office now, neither of those alternatives is available in her case.”

The really sad part is that her followers don’t care.  They will support Hillary and see her as a victim of the vast right-ring media conspiracy rather than a woman so careless she endangers the safety of American citizens.  Hillary’s covetous desire to be president is all that matters to her and her inner circle; her lack of judgement in getting there is a wake-up call to all American’s.  She will stop at nothing to attain her dream and today the FBI Director gave her carte blanche to pursue it.

But only if your name is Clinton.

Weekly Wrap-Up

Our Weekly Wrap-Up is a day early this week thanks to the July 4th holiday. With summer in full swing, what are you most grateful for as an American right now? That’s the first question in our new Weekly Poll.

The Republican Party’s “blue-collar heroes” are finding themselves in much agreement with Donald Trump and his supporters – and as I said this week Trump could be in a position to turn things around for the GOP here in New York. And this week’s victories by anti-establishment candidates is a good sign of what’s ahead.

This year’s election is important, because right now religious liberty, the right to life and the Second Amendment (along with due process) are just a few of the constitutional principles that are under assault by the Left as we celebrate the 4th of July. A bill that could let liberals trample free speech was just approved here in New York.

Which of our liberties do you believe is most threatened on this Independence Day? That’s the second question in our new Weekly Poll.

The new Benghazi report is out – you can read the full report here

The Washington Examiner has the nine biggest Benghazi committee discoveries.

It’s clear to anyone willing to take a reasonable look at the report that Hillary Clinton was part of a massive deception, and put her own ambitions above the law.

National Review says that what we now know about Benghazi deserves a reckoning. In a just world, the Benghazi debacle would have ended Hillary Clinton’s career

It’s funny to see Democrats griping about the price tag of the Benghazi investigation – who knew liberals were capable of worrying about how much government costs? If the Democrats are suddenly budget conscious, the Weekly Standard has a list of ten government spending sprees that cost more than the Benghazi investigation.

The NRA has released a powerful ad against Hillary Clinton, featuring a Benghazi hero.

The terrorist attacks continue worldwide, and the Obama Administration continues to prove that it is incapable of understanding the problem.

There were already calls for Attorney General Loretta Lynch to resign after her ridiculously naïve claim that “love” is the best weapon against terrorism – and now she has further undermined the integrity of the Department of Justice by holding a secret meeting with Bill Clinton as Hillary is under investigation by the FBI.

According to the Attorney General, Clinton went out of his way to wait for her arrival in Phoenix and make his way to her private jet simply to talk about grandchildren and golf. As Red State reports, the meeting is a violation of Department of Justice ethics regulations

Even Democrats are having a hard time defending this corruption.

What do you think Lynch and Clinton talked about in their secret meeting? That’s the third and final question in our new Weekly Poll – we had some fun with the answers, and I look forward to seeing everyone’s votes.

Have a great weekend!

The House Benghazi Report is released and this is what Congressman Trey Gowdy has said about his report that it is not meant to be an indictment of Mrs. Clinton, but rather a look at the full picture in the run-up to the attack, the handling of the attack that night, and the effort to erroneously blame a video later.  Here is some coverage of the report; from the Washington Times, here and here;  from Politico; from NBC News; from the NY Post; and from Fox News here and here.   You can read the full report here.

Daily Update

TOMORROW — TUESDAY IS PRIMARY DAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS.  IF YOU ARE NOT SURE THERE IS A PRIMARY WHERE YOU LIVE, CLICK HERE FOR YOUR COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS AND CALL THEM. (There are no primaries for Conservatives )

Another misguided decision from the US Supreme Court on the matter of protecting unborn lives from those who chose to end an innocent life. When highly educated members of the highest court in our country show lack of respect for innocent life, how can we expect others to?  People decry guns and violence and want to curtail the Second Amendment in the name of saving lives, yet five members of the US Supreme Court essentially refused to take steps to save innocent lives.   It is a sad day for America.

Our future is at state with the upcoming presidential elections.  Imagine what America will become if Hillary Clinton is the person making the recommendations for US Supreme Court Justice.

Certainly Hillary Clinton shows little respect for the rule of law…as the Associated Press showed how she concealed evidence.  And just today, Judge Andrew Napoltiano said that the discovery of a potentially damning email that Hillary Clinton failed to turn over to the State Department is of “critical importance,” and this revelation directly contradicts Clinton’s repeated claims that she never jeopardized national security secrets and that her emails were never hacked.

A Hillary administration would bring more deals like this one — which should give all of us concern.

Thank you Michael Goodwin for another great column. Larry Kudlow also calls it like he sees in regarding Brexit.  And support for Brexit from an unlikely person — Bill Mahar.
